Ceramic Veneers

TRANSFORM YOUR SMILE
Don’t settle for a smile that doesn't boost your confidence! Ceramic veneers can dramatically change the colour, shape, and length of your teeth, offering a complete smile transformation.
If your teeth appear too small, uneven, chipped, or stained, ceramic veneers might be the perfect solution. These thin porcelain shells are placed over the front surfaces of your teeth, providing a clean, even, and natural-looking appearance.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Dr van Niekerk will take photographs, discuss your smile goals and evaluate the current shape, size and symmetry of your teeth. If needed, Dr van Niekerk will discuss an interdisciplinary approach to ensure the ultimate aesthetic outcome – all this while we share a coffee in the comfort of our office in Ballito. We may proceed to take impressions of your teeth which will allow our dental ceramicist to design your new proposed smile in wax.
In some cases it is necessary to adjust the levels of the gum tissue. This is done to precisely contour your gum line, reduce excessive gums and enhance the overall aesthetics of your smile. Your gums may benefit from a laser treatment following the adjustment. This appointment is quick, not expensive and turns average into extraordinary.
In most cases we also perform a professional Zoom! Teeth Whitening treatment prior to preparation for ceramic veneers. Now you can have a smile that matches the natural shades and hues of your own teeth. It is of course possible to veneer all your teeth, which would negate the need for any future whitening and maintenance.
Two weeks later Dr van Niekerk will minimally contour and prepare your teeth, take final impressions and manufacture temporary veneers that will mimic the final result – we take pride in these and trust that you will already fall in love with your new smile. The impressions now make their way to our master ceramicist who begins to fabricate your new designer smile.
These are the days that make us love what we do and we are certain that you will too. It is at this appointment that we will bond the ceramic veneers into position using a revolutionary bonding system. We will discuss your follow-up appointment, share secrets of how to look after your new smile and may even take impressions for an occlusal guard (if needed).
At your follow-up appointment we assess overall healing and integration. We deliver and fit your occlusal guard (if needed) and proceed to take final photographs.
Frequently Asked Questions
Ceramic veneers can last between 10 to 15 years with proper care. To ensure their longevity, follow these care tips:
- Maintain Good Oral Hygiene: Brush your teeth twice daily and floss regularly to prevent plaque buildup around the veneers.
- Avoid Hard Foods: Refrain from chewing on hard objects like ice or pens, which can damage the veneers.
- Regular Dental Check-Ups: Visit your dentist for routine exams and cleanings to monitor the condition of your veneers.
- Wear a Mouthguard: If you grind your teeth or play contact sports, use a mouthguard to protect your veneers from damage.
The placement of ceramic veneers is generally considered a semi-permanent procedure because it involves the removal of a small amount of enamel from the teeth. Once this enamel is removed, it cannot be replaced, making the procedure irreversible.
